Why Hire A Remote Dosimetrist?

Why Hire A Remote Dosimetrist?

While the number of cancer patients increases and the demand for professional dosimetrists remains high, it’s not always feasible for smaller, rural centers to have full-time dosimetrists on the staff. If the patient demand isn’t enough for a small town, hiring a remote worker makes more sense.

We generally operate a "per-plan" basis charge model; this eliminates the need for a monthly retainer and/or a minimum number of plans per month. There is no minimum monthly charge. This fits well with the accounts payable department as if your clinic is in a period of low patient throughput, you only pay for what plans get completed. Having said that, we have also staffed clinics that have no permanent dosimetrists. If this is your situation, please reach out such that we can discuss this as well as it’s quite manageable.
Unlike large remote dosimetry companies which assign a large group of dosimetrists to one clinic, we generally provide two dosimetrists per clinic. Physicians have often expressed disappointment with an assigned large group of dosimetrists and they much prefer dealing with a small group. The small group helps maintain consistency within your department and allows your radiation oncologists to only work with two dosimetrists. Having two assigned dosimetrists also allows continuity of care if one of them are unavailable. Our dosimetrists are always reachable by means such as text, call, or Teams.
If your department doesn't have permanent staff to handle this, then our dosimetrists always have their laptops handy for those types of situations. It's not really a big issue for coverage when these situations arise.
